Saint & Rogue – Melbourne Public House

Saint & Rogue is a public house/restaurant located on Little Collins Street, just before Spencer Street. Their most infamous dish is “Steak Knife Tuesdays”, a char-grilled scotch fillet with either a pot of beer or glass of wine for $22.00. Daisy wanted to treat me to a special lunch, so we decided to try it out.
First off I have to say I love the look of the place. It genuinely feels like an old fashioned public house, and I almost wanted to run home to pick up my bowler hat. There are lots of booths scattered around the upstairs floor, but we decided to grab a window seat and get some fresh air while we ate. Within minutes of us being seated Allan Knights, the publican, came up and took our steak order. It was great to see someone senior step up, and I could really see how much he loved his restaraunt.
Then the steak arrived. I have to say I love recieving thick steaks when it is part of a special, and this one did not disapoint. The chips went well with is and the salad was a good crunchy counterpart to the rest of the meal. Overall, great Tuesday lunchtime steak that stayed with me all day.
I had a quick chat with Allan after the meal and he told me that they are also in the process of updating their menu, however this steak special was there to stay. Definitely a spot worth popping into and I am looking forward to their updated menu!
