Meatball and Wine Bar- Melbourne Restaurant

Meatball and Wine bar is a new venue located at 135 Flinders lane, around the corner from Chin Chin and just before Russell Street. It’s a fun little spot that balances the fine line between classy and cheeky.
The bar has a really fun atmosphere, with some great tunes and really friendly staff. It’s a really stripped back place, with bare brick walls, mixed up with a great big glowing sign up the back and a display case for their Meat Department.
The cheekiness begins right off the bat, with the staff asking how you like your balls (giggle), what do you want to cover your balls with (tee hee) and what do you want to rest your balls with (straight face till the waitress leaves then guffaws). It’s a bit of a fun way to start a night out.
Strangely, it wasn’t enough to entice me to try their meatballs. What I did start with was their mozzarella with focaccia bread. They’re a creamy start to an otherwise meaty night out, with just the right amount of oil.
For our main we tried out the Ninja jerky, aka teriyaki flavour. The jerky meat is great, but I was a bit disappointed that the teriyaki flavour itself didn’t come through more. Fortunately I had a little friend on my side.
Got to love a place with good chilli oil. More than enough to make up for it. Finally it was time for dessert, and their fabled Whoopie Macs. A scoop of ice cream between two slices of macaroons, with a decent choice of flavours. Being a very predictable chocoholic, I chose chocolate on chocolate.
I’m slightly ashamed to admit that after 6 minutes and a sound not unlike the velociraptors from Jurassic Park this was all there was left.
Overall, it’s a fun place to grab a bite to eat and a beer. Pop in and get some balls in your mouth.

Their website is here.

Great post, I look forward to checking this place out.
Thanks! Do go soon though, it seems to be getting more and more popular each time I go past.
